The First Steps

The first two ritual cleansing bars have been made! The very first one is the one used in the product photos I took, and will be preserved on that pedestal because it's far too special to use. When I am eventually able to open a shop, this bar will be proudly displayed behind the counter.

I literally jumped up and down squealing with excitement pulling that first bar out of the mold. I never expected to be so enthusiastic about soap, yet here we are.

The second one came out essentially the same, except significantly greener. I used it last night, and my husband used it this morning. We agree that it felt nice and we both noticed the softness in our skin afterward. I was happy that I didn't feel an immediate urge to slap on a moisturizer like I normally do after I wash my face.

I’m going to keep tweaking the formulation until I think it's perfect. I’m thinking about experimenting with other methods of blending the ingredients at different temperatures until I figure out what gives it the nice foamy lather that I want it to have. I might also mess with the fragrance, as it came out more lemony and less herbal or floral than I was hoping for.

My goal is to create deeply hydrating products because hydrated skin is happy skin. When I start learning more about humectants and everything that brings that hydration into the skin, I’m going to find the best (natural) ingredient I can add to maximize the result.

Also the logo is FINISHED!! She took forever because I wanted the shape and patterns to match my vision, and I finally got it! I put the logo on my instagram, tiktok, and digital business card. I’m so excited to expand my knowledge and develop more products so that I can fully start promoting!

I believe transparency is important, and I want to create the perfect products that are good for all skin types, so I’m going to keep being open about my progress with developing S&S. Thank you for joining me on my journey!
